Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to form the Questers and Strategists tables.
Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
